Welcome to KnittedPurl.com!
I’m Patti McSkane, the founder of The Knitted Purl, and I’m passionate about fibers, design and the art of knit and crochet. I spent the first 17 years of my professional life marketing in the fashion industry, and then decided to leave that world behind and spend time focusing on my family – my fantastic husband and our six crazy rescue dogs – and plan for my next great adventure.
I learned to crochet from my Nana, and always wanted to learn to knit. I finally had the time to do it! I fell in love with the fibers, the design possibilities and the process. I knew my next adventure would be one celebrating all of those things and the invaluable community that others who share this love of knit and crochet create. The Knitted Purl was born.
Our 1500 square foot store is located in the charming hamlet of Oyster Bay on the north shore of Long Island in NY. You can find your basics and your luxury yarns at The Knitted Purl. Our assortment features brands including Madeline Tosh, Koigu, Manos, Malabrigo, Blue Sky, Zen Yarn Garden, Misti Alpaca, Lorna’s Laces, Dream in Color, Mrs. Crosby, Cascade and up-and-coming designers and hand-dyers debuting harmonious color palettes and fiber sensibilities that are sure to excite! Wool, alpaca, silk, cashmere, bamboo, cotton, angora, yak, and even brushed and spun mink fill the space designed to inspire creativity, education and a shared passion for the fiber arts.
We are excited to finally be able to share our assortment with all of you and welome you into our community!
